B i o g r a p h y

I am an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Northern Michigan University, and the Director of the Interdisciplinary Gender Studies Minor. My current research interests are rather eclectic - I study a wide range of topics, mostly related to child development and/or gender. Check out my research site to learn more.

I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College, my Ph.D. in Child Psychology from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, and did my post-doctoral work at the Centre for Research in Human Development at Concordia University. As a graduate student, I received a fellowship from the University of Minnesota and an NIH traineeship through the Cognitive Sciences Center. While at NMU, I have received grants from the NIH and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.

I am currently part of the Middle East Team on campus, which has allowed me to travel to Israel, Turkey, Jordan, and Palestine this year. The team and I are incorporating material on the Middle East into our courses. My colleague and I are currently planning a gender-focused study abroad trip to Jordan for Summer 2012. It is going to be awesome - you should totally sign up for it!
